Chairman's Report 29th May 2013
Dear LPRA members,
I am pleased to present the Chairman’s Report for the period 1 May 2012 to 30 April 2013.
During the past year the LPRA Council has continued to work diligently on behalf of its members, details of the numerous achievements have been announced in the monthly LPRA eNews as well as being published on the newly refreshed LPRA website.
One of the most potentially damaging changes to our industry comes in the shape of the newly proposed Radio Equipment Directive (RED) which has serious ramifications for all of our members. In order to protect our members interests the LPRA has done what it has always done and vigorously lobbied the Commission, Regulators and MEPs. I am delighted to say that all of the issues and concerns we raised have been positively adopted in the revised Draft Report. As a result of the meetings we have had with senior MEPs, the LPRA has raised it’s profile considerably, making future lobbying much easier as we now have direct lines of communication with the key decision makers.
Looking ahead we have started planning for Radio Solutions 2014 with a view to holding the event during the first or second quarter of next year. It is essential that this event truly delivers what our members want, so we are therefore investigating if we can provide additional value to our members by incorporating Radio Solutions with a larger industry related event. Finally I should like to express my thanks to the Secretariat and to all members of the Council for the support that they have provided over the last twelve months.
