New version of EN 302 208

In early November 2011 a new version of EN 302 208 completed its Public Enquiry without any adverse comments. Both parts of the document have now been published as version v1.4.1.

The main features of the new version of the standard are:

Relaxation to Clause 8.5 (Unwanted emissions)

  • Optional use of a notch filter to attenuate the carrier signal.
  • Settings for the spectrum analyser have been modified in accordance with the revised CEPT regulations. (Settings for the resolution bandwidth have been clarified)
  • Specifies that detection mode shall be set to average.

Relaxation to Clause 8.6

  • The requirement for the 20 s limit on transmissions has been removed

Relaxation to Clause 10

  • Optional use of a notch filter to attenuate the carrier signal.
  • Specifies that detection mode shall be set to average.
  • Settings for the spectrum analyser have been modified in accordance with the revised CEPT regulation. (Settings for the resolution bandwidth have been clarified)

In addition a number of minor changes of an editorial nature have been made that improve the general quality of the document.

A copy of Parts 1 and 2 of EN 302 208 v1.4.1 may be downloaded from Part 1 and Part 2.

Until the new version of the standard has been harmonised, manufacturers may use Part 1 of v1.4.1 as a reference to obtain a favourable opinion from a Notified Body. This permits a manufacturer to claim compliance with the R&TTE Directive and place his product on the market. Harmonisation of Part 2 by the Commission is anticipated during the first quarter of 2012
