FCC’s SPECTRUM CHIEF JULIUS KNAPP TO RETIRE IN JANUARY 2020
The FCC’s top official for radio spectrum allocation is retiring after 45 years at the agency. Julius Knapp, chief of the FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology, plans to retire on Jan. 3, 2020. As the FCC's Chairman said “Julie Knapp is an FCC institution, and I will miss him for his expertise, his leadership, and his friendship, “He’s delivered incalculable value for American consumers over the years. ” If you have a device that uses the airwaves, the chances are that you’re benefiting from Julie’s efforts”. Julie has always been a big supporter of the LPRA and honoured us with making presentations at many LPRA Radio Solutions Conferences, including this years RS2019 event in the Netherlands.
On behalf of the LPRA’s Council and our members we have written to Julie to wish him a very long and happy retirement and thank him for his unwavering support over the years.
Julie’s successor will have very big shoes to fill.
